Not An Exact Science

Sitting, waiting,

Just for a nibble.

Snagged!!

He jumps up!

Grabs his rod,

reels the line excitedly!

A pause,

A pull,

The fish has given up.

He places his weapon down,

and claims his prize.

This started out as a boring fishing poem. Just as I finished the two lines, after watching the guy for over 15 minutes, a fish bit onto his hook! I scribbled down what came to mind. I’ve never been that excited watching someone fish before haha.

Two trees

Of different times.

One submissively yellow,

One defiantly green.

The first, accepting,

Knows its fate,

Embraces it.

Joining its brethren,

it’s time has come to change.

The second, steadfast,

Sees the other changing.

“No!” it says

“I will not change”.

Lonely now, 

Abandoned by even its twin,

Proudly green it stands.
